When Game of Silks revealed the 10 juveniles to be auctioned off last week, it wasn’t hard to predict that a high-priced filly by leading stallion Into Mischief would top the sale, and indeed she did, by quite a lot.
That filly, named Audacious, sold for 2.5 ETH, or just under $3,950, a record price for a racehorse in the young history of Game of Silks. Only one other horse has brought 2.5 ETH, and that was another daughter of Into Mischief, this one produced by Grade 1 stakes winner Miss Shop. That sale took place Dec. 14, when 2.5 ETH was equivalent to $3,270.
Nine of the 10 horses up for auction last week drew winning bids, with sales totaling 5.4311 ETH, for an average price of about 0.6 ETH. Game of Silks will auction off 10 more juveniles this week, giving owners a chance to build their stables ahead of the game’s inaugural racing season, which begins in April, when Keeneland traditionally holds the year’s first races for 2-year-olds.
Audacious was purchased by Bill Sadoo, who lives near San Diego and works for FanDuel, formerly TVG. He previously worked for Penn National Gaming, and he cashed in last year’s National Handicapping Championship. Sadoo said he helped to manage a large string of horses in the Mid-Atlantic for his late father and has owned horses himself. He also worked as an agent for jockeys.
Sadoo said Audacious was worth the investment given her pedigree.
“Obviously, on its face, the filly has a pretty impressive page,” he said. “A lot of things jump out, especially just how much the family overall has produced. I had a price in mind for her and luckily managed to get her. It was a stressful-yet-fun Saturday night!”
Audacious, sired by Into Mischief and produced by Veracity, sold for $700,000 at public auction. Into Mischief, the leading sire in North America for four years running, has almost $139 million in North American progeny earnings, placing him seventh in racing history. He won the Grade 1 CashCall Futurity as a 2-year-old and earned $597,080.
Veracity is a daughter of the great Distorted Humor, whose $155 million in North American progeny earnings rank second to Tapit. Veracity won a race and has produced three other foals of racing age, including one winner. She’s a full sister to Cheery, a stakes winner who produced Elate, a Grade 1-winning filly who earned $2.63 million.
Audacious’s second dam, Yell, sired by the great A.P. Indy, is a Grade 2 stakes winner who banked $598,903. Yell has produced 11 foals, with Cheery being among her eight winners.

2021 HOLY FASHION (0.4362 ETH sale price) — This filly, a $90,000 purchase, was sired by Malibu Moon, whose $147 million in North American progeny earnings rank fourth in racing history. Malibu Moon, who died in 2021, ranked 22nd in North America with $8.53 million in progeny earnings last year.
Holy Fashion has been a solid producer, getting seven winners from 11 foals of racing age, including stakes winner Above Fashion. A daughter of Holy Bull, Holy Fashion won a minor stakes herself and earned $83,030. Second dam Looking for a Win won a stakes race and is the dam of 10 winners, while third dam Delightful Spring produced 11 winners.
2021 LION’S TERMS (0.4 ETH) — This daughter of Twirling Candy sold for $35,000. Twirling Candy ranked 16th among North American stallions last year with $9.92 million in progeny earnings. Twirling Candy won the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes as a 3-year-old and earned $944,900. He’s a son of the highly influential stallion Candy Ride, who ranks ninth in racing history with almost $132 million in North American progeny earnings.
Lion’s Terms was a tough racehorse, winning 16 of 43 starts and earning $235,042. The daughter of Lion Hearted has produced four foals of racing age, and both of her winners captured minor stakes races. Second dam Maddy’s Terms has produced stakes winners Maddy’s Lion, Maddy’s Heart and Maddy’s Dance. Third dam Maddy’s Tune was a stakes winner and produced fellow stakes winner Maddy’s Waquoit.
2021 SUMMER PASSAGE (0.3859 ETH) — Purchased for just $4,500, she’s a daughter of Outwork, who won the Grade 1 Wood Memorial in 2016 and earned $701,800. Outwork, a son of Uncle Mo, got $4.73 million in progeny earnings last year to rank ninth among North American stallions with three crops of racing age.
This filly is the first foal from Summer Passage, an unraced daughter of Mineshaft. Second dam Summer Applause won a Grade 2 stakes and earned $781,600. Through her female family, this filly is related to Beyond Brilliant, who won the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby and earned $586,280, and Recoup the Cash, a Grade 2 winner who banked $1.09 million.
2021 HAVEN’S HONEY (0.3768 ETH) — This son of Grade 2 stakes winner Upstart sold for $52,000. Upstart retired with $1.73 million in earnings. The stallion had $6.62 million in progeny earnings last year to rank fifth among North American stallions who had only three crops of racing age. Upstart was sired by Flatter, whose $89 million in North American progeny earnings rank 23rd in racing history.
Haven’s Honey, a daughter of E Dubai, won six races and earned $219,704. She’s gotten six winners from eight foals of racing age. All five of second dam Slew Deputy’s runners are winners. That broodmare is a full sister to Grade 1 winner Mayo on the Side, who produced Grade 2 stakes winner Midcourt and stakes winner French Dip.
2021 ARCINA (0.3704 ETH) — This son of Nyquist was a bargain purchase at $18,000. His sire got $8.08 million in progeny earnings last year, ranking second among North American stallions with three crops of racing age. Nyquist, sired by the highly successful Uncle Mo, also ranked second among second-crop sires in 2021 with $4.69 million in progeny earnings.
Nyquist won five Grade 1 stakes, including the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Kentucky Derby and Florida Derby, earning $5.19 million.
Arcina won two races and has produced four foals of racing age, including two winners. The daughter of Arch is a full sister to Grade 3 stakes winner Waterway Run. Third dam Camella also was a stakes winner and earned $398,754.
2021 WEEKEND (0.3418 ETH) — He’s a son of Midshipman, who ranked 26th among North American stallions last year with $8.38 million in progeny earnings, an improvement over 2021, when he ranked 32nd with $7.1 million. This colt sold for $55,000 at auction.
Midshipman, the champion 2-year-old male of 2008, earned Grade 1 victories in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and Del Mar Futurity before retiring with $1.58 million in the bank.
This 2-year-old is the third foal produced by Weekend, a daughter of Henny Hughes who won a race. Second dam Wardrobe has produced four winners, including stakes winner Armoire. Third dam Rum Charger won a Group 3 stakes in Ireland and has produced seven winners, including Winchester, a four-time Grade 1 winner, and Grade 3 winner Middleburg.
2021 FIELD OF INTEREST (0.310 ETH) — This colt, named Sweet Knowledge, is a California-bred, making him eligible for purse bonuses and races, including lucrative stakes, exclusively for horses bred in the Golden State. The son of Danzing Candy sold for $10,000 last fall.
Danzing Candy had $1.6 million in progeny earnings last year to rank 26th among North American stallions with only two crops of racing age. A son of Twirling Candy, he won a pair of Grade 2 stakes and earned $700,930.
This colt’s third dam was the great Meadow Star, who earned $1.45 million and won six Grade 1 stakes, including the 1990 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Meadow Star produced only five foals, but four were winners.
Field of Interest is an unraced daughter of the highly influential stallion Unbridled’s Song. She’s produced two winners from seven foals of racing age. Second dam Field of Vision earned $114,940 and has produced seven winners. Field of Vision is the dam of Revealed, whose six winners include Grade 1 winner Belle Gallantey.
2021 WOODFLOWER (0.310 ETH) — This New York-bred filly didn’t change hands at public auction and will be eligible for purse bonuses and races exclusively for horses bred in the Empire State. She was sired by Destin, who won the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby in 2016 and lost that year’s Belmont Stakes by a nose.
Destin retired with $947,800 in earnings and stood stud in New York before being relocated to Saudi Arabia. His first crop of foals just turned 3 years old.
Woodflower, an unraced daughter of Woodman, has gotten nine winners from 10 foals of racing age, including stakes winner Magna Rose. Second dam Florisa, a full sister to stakes winner Circulating, has produced six foals, getting four winners, including stakes winner Ring of Flowers.
2021 ALGOWILD (reserve price not attained, relisted for sale) — This filly failed to meet her reserve at two public auctions, with bidding stalling out at $9,500 at the October sale. She was bred in Kentucky, although her sire, Cinco Charlie, currently stands in Arkansas.
Last year, Cinco Charlie had progeny earnings of $1.2 million, ranking third among Arkansas stallions and 29th among North American stallions with only three crops of racing age. Cinco Charlie won the Grade 3 Bashford Manor as a juvenile and earned $608,920. He’s a son of Indian Charlie, who also sired Uncle Mo, a champion racehorse at age 2 and currently one of the top stallions in North America.
Algowild and this filly’s second dam both were unraced and have produced five runners between them, including two winners. Third dam Summer Raven is a Grade 3 stakes winner who produced Grade 2 winner Lewis Bay and Grade 3 winners Winslow Homer and Misconnect. Fourth dam Rahy Rose was a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Wild Rush.
